He has been learning about his people's culture and history his entire life, including some 16 years of consultation and documentation with family elders and 4 years formal training in the Musqueam language with linguistic analysts at UBC.

Special Instructions:

Some ground is uneven on the trails and paths. Wear walking shoes. Walk is child-friendly. Rain or shine. Suggested donations of $5 - $10 welcome.

Description:

Please meet first at the eastern end of the Park at the Parking Lot on the end of Point Grey Road. We will then travel through the forests parallel to 4th avenue and then down to the beach by NW Marine Drive to make a circle tour. The tour will take approximately one and a half hours. Victor will talk about the ancient salmon stream in the are and the Musqueam villages.

NOTE: We are a Non-Profit Society who is happy to give our volunteer time for these very important historical walks. In the two previous years of walks, MANY OF THOSE WHO DID REGISTER NEVER CAME to the planned walk. Some had registered groups of 3 or 5 people each. As a result, others who registered later were disappointed because our quota had been reached. Also the historians who had worked hard to prepare their material only spoke to a small number of people.

We ask that you ONLY REGISTER IF THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL BE JOINING US on that day. Please be respectful of the work the organizers and historians are putting into these events and follow these guidelines. We look forward to seeing you at our walks!
